Phoenix is a fantastic house and I am proud of all the students in it. They always work well together and support each other, whilst maintaining the high standards the tutors and myself have for them. As I walk round the tutor groups students from all year groups are interacting and talking to each other, and older students work with younger students to help them not only with work, but with other problems as well. We are a competitive house, but our main focus is joining in and having fun. Whether you are going to come first or last, it doesn’t matter as long as you take part or cheer everyone else on.
There are lots of opportunities for students, they just need to be ready to take them! Our Captains (Elsbeth and Issy) and Vice Captains (Chloe, Stephen and Harry) are key in organising teams for competitions, making sure everyone is doing what they are meant to be and cheering everyone on. They are the first stop for students to talk to about things they want to do in school.
I have asked the current students how they feel about Phoenix and what it means to them and these are some responses I got: it’s a team; it’s like a family; it’s happy lively house; I feel amazing in Phoenix; I enjoy being in Phoenix; sometimes it’s competitive, but it’s always fun’.
